01 Why Strawberry exists

Most growing companies sit in an awkward spot. Too big to keep running on shared logins and good intentions. Too small to hire a full-time IT person. The usual answer is a generalist IT firm on a long contract, and it tends to fit badly: surprise invoices, your setup locked in their heads, and a stack of jargon you can’t read. People want one honest price and work they can actually understand and own.

That’s the gap we fill. We do the IT work a growing company needs but can’t justify a full-time hire for: accounts, computers, email, security, and writing it all down. We do it the way a good engineer would, in plain English, and we hand it to you so it’s yours.

02 What we believe about IT operations

Plain English, not jargon.

Documentation written in acronyms is documentation written for the consultant’s benefit, not the client’s. We write things you can read, follow, and hand to your next hire without an interpreter.

We pick up the phone.

Most IT work happens fine over email and a shared workspace, faster and more reviewable that way. But when something’s wrong and you need to talk to a human, there’s a human, reachable 8 to 8 Eastern on weekdays. Not a ticket queue, not a dispatcher, not a bot. The person who knows your setup, because your setup is written down, not because someone’s holding it in their head.

Productized over hourly.

Hourly billing turns every interaction into a small negotiation. Productized engagements with defined deliverables let both sides know what’s being exchanged. You always know what you’re paying for. We always know what we’re delivering.

One price, no surprises.

The IT industry runs on bill shock: a low headline number, then surprise charges for security, backups, after-hours calls, the things you assumed were included. We don’t. Software, security, and support are in one predictable price. You’ll never get an invoice you didn’t see coming, and you’ll never hear “that wasn’t covered” after the fact.

You own your runbook.

The most common pattern in our industry is information asymmetry: the provider knows your stack, you don’t, and that’s the leverage. We do the opposite. Everything we build for you lives in your accounts, documented in plain English. If you ever decide to leave, you keep working.

Sensible hours, sleepless security.

The help line runs 8 to 8 Eastern on weekdays, real hours when a real person answers, not a 3am paging culture that burns people out and produces shallow work. But your security never clocks out: every device is monitored around the clock, and suspicious activity is investigated and contained where possible, overnight and on weekends, by a dedicated security team. Normal hours for questions, constant vigilance for threats.

A small number of clients, served well.

We never take on more than we can serve thoughtfully. That means turning down work when the calendar is full. It means saying no to the wrong-fit engagement. It also means that when you’re our client, you have our attention.

03 The constraint, plainly stated

Strawberry Security is a small practice, operated to a deliberate ceiling. The help line runs weekdays, 8 to 8 Eastern. We take on only as many clients at a time as we can serve thoughtfully. And we’d rather do a focused set of things excellently than everything adequately.

This isn’t a polite framing of “we’re busy.” It’s the product. Every choice we’ve made (productized, one predictable price, no surprises, everything documented and handed to you) comes from the same belief: that quality IT operations work is best done by a small number of people focused on a small number of clients, with nothing hidden in the bill or held over your head.

Small by design doesn’t mean undocumented. Every client has a runbook, an access map, and an inventory kept current in their own accounts, so the work never lives only in one person’s head. If we ever stepped away, you could hand it to another IT person and they’d be able to pick it up. That’s the point of writing everything down.

If that matches what you’re looking for, we’d like to talk. If you need a 24/7 help desk with someone answering routine calls at 3am, or a big team across many time zones, we’re not the right fit, and we’ll tell you that on the discovery call and try to point you somewhere better. (Your security, to be clear, is watched around the clock regardless. That part never sleeps.)

04 Why “Strawberry Security”

The IT and security industry has a naming convention. It tends toward predators (Crowdstrike, Sentinel, Huntress), weapons (Sword, Shield, Bastion), and acronyms that read like an MBA spreadsheet. Most of it is performative.

We picked a name that breaks the convention on purpose. “Strawberry Security” signals what we actually are: a small considered practice that does serious work without needing to sound scary about it. It’s in the same family as Stripe, Notion, Slack, Bench: everyday words attached to serious businesses, where the confidence is in the work rather than the name.

The buyer who responds well to “Strawberry Security” is exactly the buyer we want: someone with taste, someone who recognizes that quality work doesn’t need an aggressive name to back it up, someone who would rather work with people who pick up the phone than people who claim to be sentinels.

The strawberry is also genuinely apt. Strawberries grow in tough soil. They come back every year. They’re sweet, but the plant itself is tougher than it looks. That’s the work.
